Previous Publication Notes:

Hook-Bang-Crunch (?!#) – In 1988 Greg published a technical computer manual about computer manufacturer Data General’s command line interpreter. A potential deal with Data General to ship his manual with every computer they sold fell through at the last hurdle.

Tall Tales But True – In 1990 Greg published his first book of verse entitled “Tall Tales But True”, which is where “You Ain’t No Better” was first published. It also contained Greg’s tribute to Melbourne Football Club legend Robbie Flower, which Greg had the honour of reciting at Robbie’s testimonial dinner in 1988. The late Frank Hardy, renowned author of “Power Without Glory”, wrote a glowing full-page Review of this book in his back-page column in the now defunct magazine “Australasian Post”. One of the pieces Frank was particularly taken by was about Greg’s dislike of non-rhyming poetry otherwise known as “Free Verse“. A limited number of copies of this book will also be available for sale from this Website.

The Great Southern Grandstand – In 1993 and 1994 Greg, along with his great friend, the late Peter Abourizk, did a stint on a then 3LO (now 774) Saturday morning Footy Show, called “The Great Southern Grandstand”, where they recited their own footy verse. Many of these pieces were published in the now defunct Australian Football magazine edited by Andrew Maher, as well as in an ABC book publication named after the program. Some of their poems and song parodies were recorded on Rob Fairbairn’s footy songs CD also named after the program.
